Yellow Airlines new generation "golden service" cabin is put into operation, with the first batch of twelve wide-body aircraft installed

The new cabin resets standards in three aspects: seat pitch, sound insulation and lighting, and for the first time the service flow of "golden service" is written into the hardware design. The first batch of twelve modified wide-body aircraft have been put into intercontinental routes.

Yellow Airlines announced today that the new generation of "Golden Service" cabin is officially put into operation. The first batch of twelve wide-body passenger aircraft that have been modified has been gradually put into intercontinental routes. The modification of the remaining aircraft types will be carried out in batches according to the fleet's regular maintenance plan. It is expected to complete the comprehensive update of the main wide-body fleet within two years.

"Golden Service" is a service standard that has been gradually formed since Yellow Airlines's first flight in 1947. Previously, this standard was mainly reflected in cabin crew procedures and ground service specifications; this update, for the first time, brings the requirements of service lines forward to the cabin hardware design stage.

Write the service process into the hardware

The Cabin Products Department gave an example in the design description: In the past, when flight attendants provided meal services to business class passengers, they had to go back and forth between the aisle and the meal preparation room multiple times, which not only extended the service time, but also increased the disturbance to adjacent passengers. The new cabin has added independent meal preparation stations in each cabin section, so that a complete meal service can be completed within the section.

  • The business class cabin adopts an independent suite layout, with all seats having direct access to the aisle, and the middle seat no longer needs to step over the adjacent seat to enter or exit.
  • The cabin sound insulation has been targeted in the main frequency band of the engine, and the cabin noise level during the cruise phase has dropped by about 4 decibels compared with the previous generation.
  • The lighting system automatically arranges the colour temperature curve according to the route time zone to reduce circadian rhythm disorders after long voyages.
  • Economy class seats use a new backrest structure to increase knee room without reducing the distance between the front and rear.

Modification rhythm follows maintenance cycle

It is worth noting that Yellow Airlines has not arranged a separate shutdown time for this cabin update. All modification work is completed within the fleet's established scheduled maintenance windows to avoid additional capacity usage due to cabin upgrades. The flight department said in a statement that this arrangement prevents capacity deployment from being affected by the modification plan, but it also means that the update cycle of the entire fleet will last about two years.

「The cabin is the only Group asset where passengers stay for an extended period of time. What we hope passengers will remember is not a certain configuration, but an uninterrupted flight.」
— 黄漳骏 黄色航空首席执行官、飞行部部长

Yellow Airlines also stated that the introduction of new cabins does not involve adjustments to the fare structure. Passengers can check whether the operating aircraft type has completed the cabin update through the flight details page when booking a seat.
