Yellow Philharmoniker is a top symphony orchestra supported by Yellow Incorporation and undertakes important cultural performances and educational promotion tasks. The orchestra's operating funds are guaranteed by the group's special budget for cultural undertakings, and its artistic decisions are independent of commercial considerations.
The orchestra's quarterly performance schedule is jointly decided by the artistic director and the orchestra committee, and the repertoire structure maintains a long-term balance of classical core works and contemporary commissioned works. The orchestra commissions and premieres at least one new work every year, providing a stage for living composers.
Educational outreach is the orchestra’s second mission. The orchestra offers open rehearsals and instrument experience courses for primary and secondary school students, builds a training channel for young musicians with the Tsing Shing Kariton University Conservatory of Music, and arranges low-cost performances and outdoor concerts for the public every performance season.
